Femme fatale: Anne Hathaway wants to play Catwoman again
‘Princess Diaries’ star interested in returning to DC Universe for spin-off
After making an appearance in The Dark Knight Rises, actor Anne Hathaway is now interested in returning to the DC Universe for a Catwoman spin-off film, reported Variety.
During an interview at the Toronto Film Festival, where the actor was promoting her upcoming sci-fi action-thriller Colossal, Hathaway shared she would love to tackle Catwoman in a movie once again, although it may be a difficult task. “I loved that character and I had such a blast playing her,” she said. “I’m not sure how it would work because I think the Christopher Nolan chapter of the Batman story has been wrapped up and I’m part of that, but I love the DC Universe and it would be fun to take a trip back.”
With a new vision for the DC Cinematic Universe well underway, including a standalone Batman film with Ben Affleck on the horizon, Hathaway was asked whether she felt possessive of her former character. “I don’t think you can be possessive,” she said. “It sort of comes with the territory, when you accept the role and receive it from the last Catwoman. I was shown such generosity from Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer and I would do that the next time as well.”
Even though no announcement has been made regarding Catwoman or a standalone movie for the character, Ben Affleck’s Batman film recently cast Joe Manganiello as the deadly assassin Deathstroke.
