KARACHI:
Traders and shopkeepers staged a protest on Friday on MA Jinnah Road against robberies at various shops in Tibet Centre, the city's most famous vehicle spare-parts market.

The protesters gathered on the main MA Jinnah Road near Tibet Centre and blocked traffic for hours following a grand robbery at nearly 22 shops of the market.

The traders and shopkeepers claimed that they found the locks of at least 22 shops broken when they came to work on Friday morning. Following the protest, a large contingent of police personnel reached the site and dispersed the protesters after assuring them of their cooperation.

Preedy SHO Aurangzeb Khattak said that the police have also detained a security guard of the market to question him about the incident. Since no CCTV cameras are installed in the market, the police will have to rely on footage of the surrounding areas.
