The House of Ensemble embraces spring
The fashion house leads the way in setting this season’s fashion trends.
KARACHI:
With spring just around the corner, the House of Ensemble leads the way in setting this season’s fashion trends. The fashion house takes the plunge as they showcase designer creations from both India and Pakistan.
Zeba Hussain of Ensemble says, “Everybody (designers) has put in their share for the Spring Collection. When one will look at the collection it has a very summery look with cotton fabrics being extensively used.” However, the designer collections did not only include cotton staples but also incorporated chiffons.
Work that immediately caught one’s eye was that of Anamika Khanna. The designer used tiny pearls while intricately stitching them on to the fabric and toned the dresses with darker shades. Kamiar Rokni’s creations played with black and starkly contrasting vibrant colours like bright red, deep yellow, shocking pink which he then accentuated with extensive machine embroidery.
However, veteran designer Faiza Samee stuck to the basics with floral shirts in cotton whereas Sozan Kaar brought light to Khannta work in her dresses and Sadaf Malaterre focused on the specificity of Valentine’s Day in her creations.
Interestingly enough, the fashion experience at Ensemble was not limited to just clothes but encapsulated accessories as well. Sanya Muneer exhibited her collection of wedges and flat shoes while Mahin Hussain drew attention to her statement bags and Soofia Ishaque brought a sophisticated clutch line-up to the forefront.
The preview that started Friday morning, a little before noon and ended on Saturday, was not brimming with eager shoppers but found present, former adviser to CM Sindh, Sharmila Farooqi and her mother, Anisa Farooqi, “They always have a good variety, I love their sari collection the most,” said Sharmila Farooqi. Hussain, adds that Fab East and Ritu Kumar’s collection is “expected sometime soon.”
Also Zeba Hussain takes this opportunity to reveal the ongoing plans for fashion house itself.
Ensemble entails a large segment of clothes; Zeba Hussain herself has ventured a step ahead and introduced the new in house pret line called, One.
“It targets a market audience of working women who don’t find the time to go to tailors,” says Hussain. “One is pure cotton collection, which can be worn as evening wear or even to work and the best part is it starts from Rs1,800 and does not cross the Rs5,000 barrier,” adds Hussain.
“Working behind this particular line are students from Asian Institute of Fashion Designing,” informs Hussain.
Moreover, Hussain looks forward to a busy summer with her futuristic vision, packed summer slots and pioneering ideas but only time will tell what summer has in store for all of us.
