DERA GHAZI KHAN: An anti-terrorism court sent two suspects on physical remand on Tuesday.

The suspects are accused of holding a violent protest, attacking a police station and setting police vehicles on fire.

The prosecution’s lawyer said a few weeks back, hundreds of protesters had gathered in front of Dajal police station and had set Rajanpur District Police Officer Irfanullah Khan’s car on fire. They had also torched four police mobile vans.

Police had registered cases against 138 nominated suspects and nearly 500 unidentified suspects under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Of those nominated in the FIR, the Dajal police had arrested 21 on the same day. They had presented them in front of a magistrate and sent them to Rajanpur prison.

The police arrested six more suspects on Tuesday and presented them in an anti-terrorism court.

Judge Wajahat Hussain Khan issued release orders for four of the suspects and sent two of them, Muhammad Shafiq and Amaanullah, on a 14-day physical remand.

The judge told the police to present the two suspects in court on September 19.
