Cooperation: Chinese language, culture centre to be set up at AIOU
The two sides decided to improve and expand quality education through distance learning system
A six-member delegation of the Open University of China (OUP) on Tuesday visited the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and discussed bilateral arrangements to set up a Chinese Language and Culture Centre and undertake a web-based teaching programme.
The two sides decided to improve and expand quality education through distance learning system by sharing each other’s academic experience and expertise, in line with a MoU signed two years ago.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Shahid Siddiqui briefed the delegation about their collaborative partnership programmes, being carried out with international universities particularly in China.
The AIOU, he said, would soon be setting up a Chinese Language and Culture Centre at its main campus with the partnership of Confucius Institute of China.
The university is looking forward to seek Chinese academic and administrative support in strengthening its on-campus management and establishment of a strong administrative and financial system, Dr Siddiqui said.
The Chinese delegation also visited various departments of the university.
