Senior partners at iCresStudio and siblings Farrukh and Gulrukh Shafiq take us through their childhood. From taking one too many roller coaster rides, to stealing baby blankets, to depending on each other for everything, their relationship is #goals in every way!

What’s your first memory of each other?

Farrukh: I still remember the day she was born and we brought her home. I already had a younger brother, and I really wanted a younger sister too, so I couldn’t have been happier and more excited than I was.

Gulrukh: Of him being my pram rider during our holidays!



What is the craziest thing you have done together?

Farrukh: We are both thrill-seekers and have been on plenty of adventurous trips together. The craziest thing would have to be skydiving in Orlando.

Gulrukh: One too many roller coaster rides at Disney World.

What did you get punished for the most as a child?

Farrukh: Our parents couldn’t be disciplinarians even if they wanted to. So, we had perhaps what was too relaxed an environment at home. We hardly got punished for anything.

Gulrukh: I don’t think we’ve ever gotten punished as children! We were angels, for the most part!

If you could only wear one piece of clothing for the rest of your life, from the others closet, what would it be?

Farrukh: I don’t know about clothing, but she stole my baby blanket, and I want it back, it’s only mine to use for the rest of my life.

Gulrukh: If you asked me this seven years ago I would have said his comfy Cornell sweatshirts. But now I really wouldn’t know!



If you could swap places with each other, what’s the first thing you would do?

Farrukh: Go on a vacation!

Gulrukh: Play all the trivia games that exist and feel like the smartest person in the world!

What is the one thing you love about your sibling?

Farrukh: How caring she is towards her family and close friends.

Gulrukh: What I admire most about him is his strength and ability to always think of others before himself and how he genuinely loves.

If you are fighting with each other, how do you make up?

Farrukh: She knows my weakness is getting the silent treatment from her, so she starts giving me that until I give in, even when I am right!

Gulrukh: As hard as it is to believe we’ve never really fought. You’d be surprised what you can get away with by being the youngest, and the only sister. Though whenever we do have moments where we get annoyed, my silent treatment tends to bring us both back on the same page.



What is the one secret talent your sibling has, that you wish you did too?

Farrukh: She has the talent to always find time for the gym, even on the busiest of days. I really wish I could do the same.

Gulrukh: His ability to retain all kinds of knowledge.

Describe your sibling in three words:

Farrukh: Smart, sincere and hardworking.

Gulrukh: Loving, hardworking and sociable.

Which fictional character is your sibling most like?

Farrukh: I think she’s Monica from Friends, and I am Ross.

Gulrukh: Ross! Mr Know-it-all.

How are your personalities similar?

Farrukh: We are both extremely driven in life.

Gulrukh: I think for the most part we are both perfectionists, me to a much lesser extent than him!

I can’t live without my sister/brother because…

Farrukh: I depend on her for everything, especially at work.

Gulrukh: His love for me is of the purest form, so I can’t imagine not having that constant sense of security and comfort.
