Chinese lady doctor found murdered
An acupuncturist by profession, Jia Yulian was strangled at her apartment.
ISLAMABAD:
A Chinese lady doctor was found dead at her apartment on Friday, with her hands tied behind her back. It is suspected that Jia Yulian, 45, was strangled to death as marks were found on her neck. However, the police said that the cause of death will be clear only after the post mortem report.
On Friday afternoon, the doctor’s corpse was spotted by her neighbour, Dr Adeeb. He told the police that two girls, who had come to her residence for a job interview, found the entrance door of her apartment open. They knocked but did not get any reply.
Upon hearing the knocks, he came out of his office. Together with the two girls, he entered the lady doctor’s apartment and found her lying on the floor in a room. They called the police on realizing that the lady was dead.
When the police arrived, they found Yulian lying with her face down and her hands tied behind her back. Her face was covered with a cloth. Police also found marks on her neck.
Yulian had been living alone in her apartment at Rose I Plaza, I-8 Markaz, for the last five years. She had reserved a room of the apartment for her acupuncture clinic. Most of her patients were women, police said.
Police said there were no witnesses and the motive behind the murder was not clear. “It does not appear to be a robbery as everything in the apartment was in its place and no valuables or cash was missing,” said a police official.
According to the police, there were no signs of resistance either. They suspected the doctor had been dead for eight to nine hours when they found her. Post mortem would give a better estimate on the time of death.
Yulian’s neighbours told the police that a man, unknown to them, had visited her on Thursday evening. Since then, they had neither seen Yulian nor anybody else enter or leave her apartment. The industrial area police registered a case against unknown persons and launched an investigation.
