Wealth tax: LHC suspends FBR’s notice to Tareen
Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza suspended the notice and sought a reply from the FBR by September 30
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday suspended a wealth tax recovery notice that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had issued to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Jahangir Tareen. Tareen submitted that the FBR was victimising him for his affiliation with an opposition party. His counsel told the court that the FBR had unlawfully issued a notice for the recovery of Rs130 million as wealth tax. He said the board had no power to recover wealth tax. He requested the court to set aside the notice. Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza suspended the notice and sought a reply from the FBR by September 30.
