PESHAWAR: Events have been planned to commemorate Defence Day throughout Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday (today). The traffic police department has chalked out a plan to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city on the day.

According to SSP (Traffic) Sadiq Baloch, one SP and two DSPs, along with 105 traffic wardens, will be deployed along various routes throughout the city to control the flow of vehicles on the roads. Sadiq Baloch has also urged citizens to cooperate with traffic wardens to ensure smooth flow of traffic. Moreover, Inter Service Public Relation’s Peshawar office has issued a handout sharing details of the events to be held on Defence Day.

The day is commemorated in the memory of those who lost their lives in the war between India and Pakistan. To mark the day, a weapons exhibition will be held at Army Stadium where varieties of weapons will be displayed for the public. The entry will be free or charge for public after noon. However, ISPR has urged citizens to bring their CNICs to enter the exhibition premises. The handout also stated that the public will not be allowed to carry weapons inside the premisis of the exhibition. Similarly, a special function will be held in Swabi district to pay tribute to Colonel Sher Khan. He was martyred in the 1999 Kargil war while fighting the Indian forces.
