KARACHI: The provincial home department on Monday imposed a ban on swimming in the beaches of Karachi on the days of Eidul Azha. The home department imposed a ban on swimming on the recommendations of Karachi commissioner who requested the home department to help avoid any loss of human life while bathing in the sea during the Eid holidays. “The government is satisfied that in order to avoid any untoward incident of drowning which may occur due to swimming or bathing in the sea, it is necessary to take immediate measures,” the notification reads. “The government of Sindh, in exercise of powers conferred under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, imposes a ban on swimming and bathing at the beaches for the three days of Eidul Azha.”
