Former England captain Marcus Trescothick on Thursday revealed his all-time eleven and one Pakistani was able to make his way into the final team – arguably the greatest left-arm pacer Wasim Akram.
“Number nine, Wasim; left-arm option, quick bowler. Always made it very tricky for the opening batsmen,” said Trescothick of the former Pakistan captain.
Trescothick’s list included current England Test captain Alastair Cook and former South African captain Greame Smith as openers.
In the middle-order, the 40-year-old opted for three legends of the game; at number three former Australian skipper Rickey Ponting, Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar at number four and West Indies left-arm legendary willow-wielder Brian Lara at number five.
Former Proteas all-rounder Jacques Kallis was Trescothick’s pick for the number six spot. For the wicketkeeper-batsman option, the Englishman chose former Australian captain Adam Gilchrist.
Compatriot James Anderson and former Australian pacer Glenn McGrath were his number ten and eleven who would accompany Wasim in the pace department.
