Afghan apology: Friendship Gate reopens

Nine new NADRA centres have also been set up at the gate for registration and verification of people crossing border

CHAMAN: The Friendship Gate on Pak-Afghan border in Chaman reopened on Thursday after a closure of over 12 days. Nine new NADRA centres have also been set up at the gate for registration and verification of people crossing border.

Muhammad Safdar, a senior official of a paramilitary force deployed at the gate told APP, that the border was opened at 7am following a decision taken in the flag meeting held between officials of Pakistan and Afghanistan border forces in Chaman last night.

The Afghan officials handed over a letter of their senior officials to Pakistani officials, through which, the Afghan government condemned the act of burning Pakistani flag and pictures and effigy of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Wesh Mandi area of Afghanistan on August 18.

" Sorry they did NOT apologize. They did condemn those actions but that does not amount to an apology.
