Reservations: FATA Reforms criticised for ignoring women

Representatives of the forum said the reforms ignored views and proposals of women

PESHAWAR:
Takrah Qabaili Khwenday (brave tribal sister), a representative forum for tribal women from all agencies, expressed reservations over recently framed reforms package for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).

Representatives of the forum said the reforms ignored views and proposals of women.

The TQK representatives also made suggestions
and proposals to FATA Reforms Committee headed by Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz.

Through a press release issued on Wednesday, the TQK stated that while making historic decisions about the future of Fata, the reforms committee completely ignored the aspirations, opinions and point of views of tribal women.

They said the concept of rewaj was anti-women since all patriarchal oppressions were based on it.

They also said the jirga system negated women’s participation in decision making processes.
