PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Wednesday restrained National Accountability Bureau from arresting Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) vice chancellor.

The bench, headed by Justice Syed Afsar Shah, ordered NAB to file reply till September 9.

Petitioner’s counsel said PHC has restrained NAB from arresting the petitioner in around three different enquiries. He said NAB has initiated enquiries against the petitioner in various affairs and arrested him in a case related to Hazara University. He added the petitioner was later released on order of the PHC.

He contended that as per law, NAB was bound to prepare a single reference in different allegations after completion of enquiries and this was a legal requirement. He maintained even the apex court declared this law effective but NAB in violation of this law initiated new enquiries just to harass
the petitioner.
