Understanding your body is the key to looking good and a trait found amongst all impeccably dressed fashionistas. While people shy away from talking about their bodies, these brave souls explain how they work their anatomies to their advantage
How would you describe your body type?
I have a petite frame but an hourglass body shape.
Has your body type changed over the last five years?
It’s changed very little. I may have put on a bit of weight, but there haven’t been any major changes.
How has your style changed over the years?
Drastically. From continuously asking my mum for fashion advice, I’ve developed my own sense of style. I dress more like myself now, and I like to stay attuned to the current fashion trends.
In your opinion what is your most troublesome area?
What is most troublesome to me is my height and small stature. Since I have an hourglass body shape, it’s very easy for me to look short and stumpy.
How do you dress your body according to your body type?
Dressing for your body type is fairly easy if you learn all the right tips and tricks. I make sure that whatever I wear extenuates my waistline and gives me a fuller look. To give the illusion of length, I wear things that make my legs look longer, for example vertical stripes or high-waist pants.
In your opinion what is the biggest mistake a person can make while dressing here?
Not dressing for their body type. That is the biggest mistake anyone could make. It doesn’t matter what’s trending or who is wearing what — wear what looks good on you and what complements your shape and personality. Be confident in who you are and you will always look good!
Which silhouettes suit your body the most?
Sleek, well-balanced silhouettes look most flattering on me, something like a Basque waist ensemble.
What is the one piece of clothing that you shy away from wearing and why?
Dresses. I don’t like to wear dresses for a few reasons. Personally, I feel they don’t go with my style, and also they are not the most flattering piece for my legs.
