RAWALPINDI:
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) sent on Monday 14 suspects to Adiala Jail on judicial remand in a police station attack case.

ATC judge Asif Majeed Awan sent 14 suspects including Faisal Iqbal to Adiala Jail after completion of their physical remand in Pirwadhai Police Station attack case.

The judge ordered police to produce them before the court on September 1.

The judge also granted four days physical remand of another suspect, Masoom Khan, in the same case and ordered police to produce him before the court on Sept 3.

Tariq Khattak, another suspect, has obtained an interim bail before arrest till September 7.

The suspects were arrested in connection with the attack on the Pirwadhai Police Station on August 23 to get a suspect, Atif Abbasi, freed. He was wanted to police in two murder cases registered with the Ratta Amral Police station on December 28, 2012, and an attempted murder case of July 24, 2013. A court had declared him an absconder in another attempted murder case registered on July 27, 2011, with the same police station.

The police had arrested Abbasi on the charge of snatching a motorcycle on June 16 this year. Soon after Abbasi’s arrest over 50 people including his relatives reached the police station and fired gunshots and pelting stones at the police.

Four people including two police officials -- ASI Mohammad Asif and Constable Mohammad Ali -- were injured in the attack.

The Pirwadhai police booked around 70 persons for attacking the police station and resorted to firing in the air.
