Actor says he's playing a Muslim character for the first time

Anil Kapoor has been in the film industry for almost four decades and is known for his diverse film roles, however, this time the versatile actor is all geared up to play the role of a Muslim man.

Anil will play a Muslim named named Fanney Khan in his next venture, Hindustan Times reported. “Now that I have got an opportunity to play a guy who is from Bhendi Bazaar, and I’m playing a Muslim character for the first time, I’m looking forward to it,” he said.



The 59-year-old actor said he reminisces the old days he spent at the Bhendi Bazaar while shooting for the film.

Sharing his memories, Anil said, “I remember, as a kid (while he was growing up in Chembur), I used to go to Mohammed Ali Road, Bhendi Bazaar and Masjid Bunder a lot. I have spent quite a lot of my childhood at those places. I would just go there and walk around aimlessly.” He added that he was fond of Lucky Biryani available in (Bandra West).

The actor-producer is for sure looking forward to the role. “It is going to be a lot of fun. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into it.”

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Fanney Khan is a Bollywood remake of the Oscar-nominated Dutch film Everybody's Famous (2000).
