Shahbaz invites Turkish PM to visit Pakistan

Punjab CM also meets President Erdogan, congratulates him for thwarting coup

LAHORE:
Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on a visit to Turkey extended an invitation to Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim on behalf of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to visit Pakistan.

The Punjab CM, who is on an official visit, held separate meetings with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minster Yildirim on Saturday. In his meeting with the President Shahbaz congratulated Erdogan on behalf of the Pakistani people over the thwarting of the coup attempt.

CM pays tribute to Erdogan

Shahbaz called on the Prime Minister Yildirim at the Prime Minister House in Istanbul on Saturday. Both the leaders discussed Pak-Turk relations and reviewed the areas of cooperation in different sectors in the meeting.

He also congratulated the Turkish prime minister and people for foiling the coup attempt last month. He said that people of Turkey have expressed their deep love and commitment to democracy and there are few examples of such struggles in history.

He went on to say that the enemy of Turkey is the enemy of Pakistan.

He said that he was deeply grieved over the recent incidents of terrorism in Turkey and the sympathies of the Pakistani nation are with the bereaved families.

The Punjab CM also extended an invitation to the PM Yildirim on behalf of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to visit Pakistan.

Way forward: Infrastructure development key to progress, says CM

Yildirim on accepting the invitation said that he will soon visit Pakistan to meet his very dear brethren and appreciated the solidarity expressed by Pakistan to the Turk leadership.
