SUKKUR:
The Sukkur police busted two gangs of robbers and recovered Rs900,000 in cash, which was looted from two citizens a few days ago.

According to the police, Dileep Kumar, a resident of Sukkur, was on his way home after withdrawing Rs800,000 from a bank when he was intercepted and robbed of his cash by armed men within the limits of C-section police station. In a separate incident, Kareem Bux Chohan, a resident of Bachal Shah Miani, withdrew Rs100,000 from a bank and was robbed by armed robbers near Lab-e-Mehran.

Sukkur SSP Amjad Ahmed Shaikh formed two teams to investigate the incidents. The teams successfully arrested the thieves and recovered the stolen cash. "We don't want to disclose the names of the culprits at this preliminary stage because we want to investigate thoroughly and arrest the remaining suspects," said the SSP.

On Friday, the recovered cash was returned to its rightful owners by Sukkur DIG Captain (retd) Feroze Shah and SSP Shaikh at the DIG Office. Speaking to the media, the victims thanked the police for their untiring efforts, after which the DIG announced commendation certificates and cash rewards of Rs5,000 each for the SHOs and police party of B and C section police stations.

Gangsters nabbed

Apart from this, Sukkur police managed to bust a gang of female robbers who were involved in the theft of cash and other valuables from women's bags in crowded market places. The police said that a woman, Mrs Shahid Arain, was shopping on Frere Road with her husband when three women opened her bag and tried to steal her belongings. The woman caught hold of one of the thieves and handed her over to the police.

The police later arrested her accomplices and registered a case against them. The arrested suspects were identified as Mai Anwar Solangi, Bashiran and Zubaida, all residents of Dreha, near Sukkur.

Appointment orders

SSP Shaikh handed over appointment orders to 26 police constable candidates on Saturday. The appointment letters were given to the sons of martyred policemen, he said.

According to him, all the applications from the sons of martyred policemen were sent to the Sindh IG's office for scrutiny, after which the candidates were called for written and physical tests to Karachi.

The IG's office issued the list of the successful candidates, after which the respective SSPs handed over the appointment letters, said Shaikh. All the appointments have been made purely on merit without any political influence, he added.
