HYDERABAD:
An accountability court in Hyderabad remanded on Saturday Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) chairperson to jail custody till September 22 for alleged corruption.
An investigation team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) produced Anwar Ahmed Zai, who was arrested from Karachi on August 24, in court.
He is charged with alleged corruption of Rs100 million and making illegal appointments in 2010-11 when he headed the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Mirpurkhas.
Shafique Ahmed Khan, brother of Pak Sarzameen Party's Anees Advocate, and Fayaz Khan, who both also served in the Mirpurkhas board at the time, are among five persons nominated in the NAB reference.
The NAB court also issued arrest warrants for Shafique and Fayaz, but both are yet to be arrested.
According to NAB officials, Zai and others were involved in illegal appointment of 82 staff members in Mirpurkhas board and allegedly embezzlement of Rs100 million funds.
