Measures are being taken to counter the outbreak of diphtheria that was reported on August 9. This was mentioned in a statement issued on Saturday. Around 1,742 children were vaccinated in villages of North Waziristan Agency. Moreover, a free medical camp was arranged where specialist doctors of Agency Headquarters Hospital Miranshah examined 483 patients. However, six children who were patients of diphtheria and were admitted in hospitals in Bannu and Peshawar died. Another mass vaccination campaign is said to start from Monday.
