Assistance: Russia delivered aid worth $8m
Russian government has delivered four cargo planes of humanitarian assistance worth eight million dollars.

Russian Consul-General Andrey Demidov said the Russian government has delivered four cargo planes of humanitarian assistance worth eight million dollars to flood survivors in Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference at the Russian Consulate in Karachi on Thursday, he said that Russia is committed to providing further assistance, including tents and food for those who are still living in relief camps.
Russia’s emergency ministry sent a cargo plane, carrying daily-use commodities, on January 15, while another was sent with 113 tons of goods on February 5. The items included tents and food and were handed over to the Pakistan government.
Demidov said that two planes had been sent earlier in August.
“Out of the eight million dollars given, seven million are being allocated through UN agencies such as the Unicef, WHO and WFP,” he said. He said it was the Pakistan government’s responsibility to monitor the relief distribution.
