Frequency spectrum use: PTA to take action against illegal users

ISLAMABAD:
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will take action against those users of frequency spectrum that do not have a valid licence. PTA and Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) have been monitoring frequency spectrum and taking enforcement action against illegal /unauthorised users of frequency spectrum on a regular basis, said a press release.

Use of frequency spectrum without obtaining licence from PTA is an offense under Section 31 of Pakistan Telecommunication (Re-Organization) Act 1996. Illegal use of frequency spectrum may lead to imprisonment up to three years or fine up to Rs10 million or both, it added.

PTA along with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) carried out a raid at Master Communication in Lahore. During the raid, apparatus used for establishment of illegal links was confiscated and operation of 11 illegal links was seized.
