KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday said that a case of treason had been registered against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s leadership.

The chief minister said that both the federal and provincial governments were evaluating the situation and all requirements will be fulfilled to bring back the party’s leadership to Pakistan and place a ban on MQM.

He expressed these views during his visit to Express Media Group’s office where he met with the chief executive officer, Aijazul Haq, and expressed solidarity with the media in the wake of the recent attacks on media houses.

Speaking to the Express News, the chief minister said that Monday’s events were being investigated, adding that even MQM did not know what happened.

“What the MQM leadership said yesterday about the country is intolerable,” he said.

In response to a question he said elections for mayor, scheduled for Wednesday (today), will be held as scheduled. He asked the elected local government representatives to cast their votes without any fear. The party getting majority votes will form the local government, however, the members should think before they support someone. They should not ignore the anti-state attitudes of some people,
he added.

Information adviser Maula Buksh Chandio, Additional IG Karachi Mushtaq Mehar, Chief Reporter Express GM Jamali, Bureau Chief Faisal Hussain and others were also present on the occasion.
