Google has finally released its latest mobile operating software which was named Android Nougat in keeping with its tradition of naming the OS after sweet treats.

The latest version of Android was released after a five month beta run that allowed the producer to tweak the software for bugs before it was made available to the public.

Android N is now 'Nougat'

Google confirmed the news of the release by posting on its Twitter account and also mentioned the devices which will be able to upgrade to the latest OS. These include Nexus devices 5X, 6, 6P, 9 and Pixel C for now.

Android updates are slow mainly due to the fact that each smartphone manufacturer using the OS tweaks it to fit its own device with only a handful offering stock Android experience.

Some of the features that the new OS will offer include the multi window support which was previously available to a select few such as Samsung that uses TouchWiz interface along with Android to provide more functionality for its smartphones.

Samsung’s latest smartphone, Note 7, is expected to get the update in the next two to three months whereas LG’s upcoming flagship device will have the OS pre-installed.
