Asma Jahangir rejects Modi’s analogy
Asma believes there is a great difference between situations of the two regions
ISLAMABAD:
Asma Jahangir, human rights activist and lawyer, rejected Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comparison between Indian-administered Kashmir and Balochistan on human rights violation.
Asma believes there is a great difference between situations of the two regions. She expressed these views while speaking to reporters at the Press Association of Supreme Court office after attending the lawyers’ protest in front of the parliament building.
She said that Kashmir is a disputed territory where Indian forces are violating human rights, while the situation is different in Balochistan where people are not demanding freedom but rather peace and the fulfilment of their basic rights. Asma also rejected Modi’s allegations regarding the involvement of Pakistan in Kashmir unrest and said that the recent wave of demonstrations in Kashmir is ‘home grown.’
