KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court has issued a notice to the president of the Karachi Press Club for February 17 in a petition filed by eight applicants seeking membership to the club.
The petitioners, including Syed Jaffer Abbas Jaferi, Qari Sadaqat and others, said they have been in the profession for the past 20 years. They said that they fulfil the membership criteria and have a legal right to become members yet their applications have been pending for a long time even though they have paid the fee. A division bench, comprising Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai, heard Nisar A Mujahid, counsel for the petitioners, and ordered pre-admission notices.
