Literacy: ‘Bosnia, Pakistan should partner up for education’
FAISALABAD:
Ambassador of Bosnia to Pakistan Nedim Makarevic said on Saturday Bosnia and Pakistan should invest in education for qualitative socio-economic change in their societies.
Addressing a cultural show organised by the Bosnian embassy at a hotel, the ambassador expressed concerns over poor literacy rate in Pakistan.“This is one of the main causes of poverty,” he said. The ambassador said his country wanted to play a role in improving literacy in Pakistan.
“We have selected places in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to set up schools for girls. We also want to focus on rural areas of the Punjab where female literacy rate is low,” he said. Two Bosnian artists played a piano and a violin at the show. The function was also addressed by Chaudhry Muhammad Nawaz, president of the FCCI.
