Safety measures: Industrialists demand trauma centre for workers
There was no such facility for those in Hattar Economic Zone
HARIPUR:
A trauma centre has been demanded for the industrial workers in Hattar in a Haripur.
While speaking to journalists in Haripur on Friday, Hattar Industrialists Association Chairperson Malik Ashiq Awan said there were over 300 functional industrial units in Hattar Economic Zone with 40,000 people in the workforce and managerial staff, while thousands of other industries were nearing completion, but there was no trauma centre for the workers.
Since the industrial workers always remain exposed to accidents during production process at the industries, Awan said, the absence of a trauma centre increases the ratio of vulnerability to fatalities. "As there is no proper healthcare facility in Hattar to deal with accidents, burning and amputation cases, the victims are always referred to hospitals in Abbottabad, Taxila and Wah Cantonment,” he added. “District Headquarters Hospital Haripur is also without this facility due to which a majority of patients in critical condition die on the way to hospitals.”
He urged the government ensure provision of fully equipped and state of the art trauma centre for Hattar Economic Zone.
