The SED had earlier lifted the ban on transfer of teaching staff with effect from July 27. The SED had declared that the transfer policy formulated in 2013 would be followed in dealing with the request. Teachers seeking transfers had been told to submit their applications by August 13. The SED had told teachers that a merit list would be put up after their applications were scrutinised.
Teachers were told to file for any objections to the list between August 13 and August 23.
The SED had said that the transfer orders would be issued from August 24 to August 27. The transferred teachers would be required to report at their new schools between August 27 and August 31.Punjab Teachers’ Union (PTU) general secretary Rana Liaquat Ali had criticised the move, saying very little time had been provided to the teachers. Teachers have now been given additional time to submit their requests to the department.
