Measuring progress: Training under way to assess wellbeing of women, children
Results will be used for district ranking, resource distribution

At least 26 participants are attending the training for Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) to assess the wellbeing of women and children. The training began on July 27 and will conclude on August 13.
According to a press release, the participants will act as master trainers for regional training sessions that will be conducted in Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad and DI Khan. At least 20 women are participating in the training.
The Bureau of Statistics (BOS) in the province is conducting the training in collaboration with Unicef.
“MICS is a globally-accepted tool for measuring progress related to wellbeing of women and children,” the statement read. “BOS conducted MICS in 2001 and 2008 in K-P. In Fata, it was conducted in 2007.”
According to the document, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and other cabinet members attach great importance to MICS as the results will be used for district ranking and resource distribution among districts.
“The data will also be used to measure progress on Sustainable Development Goals,” the press release stated. “The planning and development secretary and chief economist are closely monitoring daily progress of MICS.”
