KARACHI: The city police claim to have arrested four suspects, while an alleged street criminal was killed and his companion was arrested during an encounter in old city area on Wednesday.

Four suspects, identified as Ahmed Rabbani, Arshad, Arsalan alias Mawach and Shehroz, were arrested during separate raids. Their arrests were disclosed during a press conference held by SSP Faizullah Korejo on Wednesday. The SSP said that the suspects were arrested during raids in Baghdadi, Kalakot and Kharadar, while weapons were also seized from them.

According to the SSP, Rabbani is an alleged member of the Uzair Baloch group and was wanted in cases of murder, attempted murder and extortion. He added that Arshad has been involved in the murder of police constable Faisal alias Obama and was a member of the Lyari-based gang of Mullah Nisar, while Shehroz was involved in various cases of crime. Cases against them have been registered and further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, a suspected robber was killed and his companion was arrested in an injured condition after an encounter with the police near Karachi Metropolitan Corporation workshop.
