The meeting also discussed proposals about construction of a Dolphin Civil Lines police station and ways to improve working conditions and promote a healthy environment in police stations.
CCPO Capt (r) Amin Wains proposed that police stations should be authorised to take financial decisions. The IGP agreed and said the power to take decisions in this regard would be delegated to the SDPOs concerned once all police stations in the city had prepared their proposals.
The IGP also agreed with a proposal to establish an independent financial crime investigation unit.
The meeting decided that funds would be allocated for use by officials investigating homicides. Operations DIG Haider Ashraf said acquisition of land for the Dolphin Civil Lines was under process and construction of Dolphin Centres was also underway.Administration SSP Rana Ayaz Saleem briefed the IGP about progress in construction of new police stations in the city. He said construction of Garden Town police station had been completed and that of 10 others was almost complete. These were Akbari Gate, Badami Bagh, Gowalmandi, Qila Gujjar Singh, Chuhng, Naulakha, Lohari Gate, Mozang and Yakki Gate stations. He said construction of buildings for four newly approved police stations (Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Gulshan-i-Ravi, Liaquatabad and Faisal Town) would begin soon. The IGP was told construction of five new buildings containing 90 flats in 15 residential blocks would be completed very soon.
