F-10 shooting: Lawyer’s suspected killers yet to be arrested
Raja Arshad, Noman and eight others booked for murder
ISLAMABAD:
Police have booked at least 10 persons after a man was gunned down and another was injured in early hours on Monday but have made no arrests till the time this report was filed on Tuesday.
Fahad Malik, who was a lawyer and a nephew of the former senate chairperson, Mohamedmian Soomro, was shot dead in F-10/3, allegedly by Raja Arshad.
Malik Tariq, who is Fahad’s uncle and who was also injured during the attack, lodged a complaint with the Shalimar police against Raja Arshad, Noman alias Nomi Khokhar and at least eight unidentified persons.
In the application, Tariq said his son Hasnain and Arshad quarreled over some issue in F-11 Markaz on Sunday night.
Tariq said when he arrived at the scene; Arshad threatened him and his son.
However, a police team intervened and brought both the parties to Shalimar Police Station.
Tariq’s two other sons and his nephew Fahad also arrived at the police station.
Tariq says Arshad continued threatening them even at the police station.
However, both the parties agreed on a compromise and left the police station.
Tariq says when they left the police station at about 3:15am on Monday, Arshad said he wanted to discuss something with him.
He sat in Tariq’s vehicle, telling Tariq to drop him at the McDonald’s.
Fahad, Tariq’s son Bazid Malik and Usman sat in the other car (VY-1) and followed Tariq’s vehicle.
“Arshad told me ‘what you have done is not right’ … and when we arrived near Street 3 in F-10/3 at about 3:20am, a double-cabin car (WT-333) overtook and intercepted us, while another stopped behind Fahad’s car. Five armed men came out of the car in front of us and one of them named Noman stepped forward to[wards] my car. Raja Arshad got off the car and told him [Noman] ‘teach them a lesson’,” Tariq has maintained in his complaint to the police.
Noman fired three to four bullets, one of which hit Tariq in the leg, while others hit the vehicle.
He said another four to five armed men came out of the other car.
“Seeing them, Fahad tried to speed off but Raja Arshad opened fire on the vehicle. The bullets hit Fahad due to which he lost control of the car and hit a nearby wall,” the application reads.
Tariq said the suspects escaped the scene. Police have booked Raja Arshad, Noman and all others for murder, attempted murder and rioting but had made no arrests when this report was filed on Tuesday.
Sources who knew the victim told The Express Tribune that some of the suspects have already fled the country.
