Elaborate measures are being taken to completely end power outages by March 2018 as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is committed to making Pakistan load-shedding-free by that year, said State Minister for Water and Power Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali.
“Energy projects are being completed on a war footing along with the establishment of new grid stations to provide electricity connections to all applicants. A large volume of electricity is being added to the national grid every two to three months,” he said.

Ali said a new grid station had been set up at Chenab Nagar and it would be inaugurated next week, while 98% of electricity cables close to houses and rooftops of residential buildings had been removed and the remaining work would be completed soon.
He added that defective transformers had been sent for repair to the headquarters of Faisalabad Electricity Supply Company (Fesco), which already had a heavy workload causing unnecessary delays in repair.

“A new transformer repair workshop has been established in Sargodha to lessen the burden of Fesco. The workshop will help in removing faults in transformers in Sargodha and adjoining areas to reduce the delay,” he said.
