Man shot dead for not paying barber in Dera Ghazi Khan
Family protests, demands action against culprits
DERA GHAZI KHAN:
A barber and his brother allegedly shot dead on Monday a customer who had gotten a shave but had refused to pay.
Police said Muhammad Javed had visited Muhammad Aslam’s barber shop in Ranjhawala village for a shave. The two exchanged angry words after Javed refused to pay up. The altercation had apparently ended after several people in the area intervened and tried to placate the two. Later, Aslam and his brother followed Javed on a motorcycle. Javed was almost home when they shot him and drove off.

His family took him to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. They filed a complaint with Darahma police.
Javed’s relatives later staged a demonstration against Darahma SHO Iftikhar Qureshi and accused him of favouring the culprits. The protesters placed the body on Jampur Road and blocked it for traffic for several hours. They said the SHO had not given the case any attention and had delayed the post-mortem examination of the victim.

Civil Lines SHO Rana Muhammad Iqbal visited the demonstration and told the protesters he would make sure that the Darahma police arrested the suspects as soon as possible. The family then took the body home.
When contacted, SHO Qureshi said he was not at the police station when the complaint was filed. “I was investigating another case…we have registered a case and are investigating this murder.”
