Illegal detention: Four CTD officials suspended
KARACHI:
Four officials of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) were suspended for allegedly detaining a citizen illegally.
Sub-inspector Muhammad Raees, along with three constables, was suspended by CTD SSP Junaid Shaikh. The suspended cops were accused of illegally detaining a citizen, identified as Mazhar, who was picked up by the suspended cops from a Korangi neighbourhood. The suspended cops later released him after getting extortion money. The citizen, after being released from illegal custody, complained to senior CTD officials who took action and suspended the responsible cops while also returned the extorted amount to the citizen.
The complainant said that even though it has been confirmed that these cops abducted him and extorted money, no case has been registered against them. CTD SHO Asif Usman said a case would be registered after an inquiry against them is completed.
