ISLAMABAD: A 72-year-old woman was killed after she was hit by a speeding van on Kashmir Highway near G-11 on Thursday evening.

Police shifted the body to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). The police said that the woman was a resident of G-8.

The Ramna police said the victim’s family had gone to attend a ceremony in connection with the National Minorities Day at the Sports Complex and had left her alone.

Ramna SHO Irshad Ali Abro said that the van driver has agreed to compensate the family financially. He said that the driver would be booked if he did not pay the compensation to the family.

Meanwhile, two bystanders including a teenage boy suffered gunshot wounds after two armed groups clashed in Sabzi Mandi on Thursday evening. The victims were identified as Aslam, 35, and Ahmed Khan, 14.

Sabzi Mandi police said Aslam that was shot by armed persons fleeing on a motorcycle. “They mistook him for a member of the other group and shot him,” Sabzi Mandi SHO Arshad Ali told The Express Tribune.

The victims were taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences by the police. They were stable and out of danger, said the SHO. Ali said that the police would soon arrest the suspects.
