Six-year old escapes sexual assault

The police said that Adeel was mentally disturbed man.

RAWALPINDI: Police on Tuesday arrested a man after he sexually assaulted a young girl in Rawalpindi.

Six-year-old Najeeba*, was playing outside her house in Dhok Dalal when Adeel lured her to a cattle pen where he works. Offering her a candy, he took the girl to the place and tried to rape her. On Najeeba’s hue and cry the locals gathered at the scene and rescued her. Father of the girl, Shabbir Ahmed, told the Ganjmandi police that the 23-year-old Adeel tried to rape her daughter. However, medical reports confirmed that the girl was not raped but a case of sexual assault was filed against the suspect.

The police said that Adeel was mentally disturbed man. “The neglect he has suffered due to family troubles has had an impact on him,” an official said. Station House Officer of Ganjmandi Police Station Khan Shabbir said that Adeel was in the police custody and due legal action was going to be taken against him.

asif bajwa | 13 years ago | Reply @hamid sheikh a huge part in underage marriages is played by our maulvis.They justify & encourage early marriages for girls & preside over the nikkah ceremonies.They think that if a girl is married off young she won't get a chance to complete her education,get a job & become financially independent. Preventing girls from becoming financially independent is a major reason for underage marriages in our country.The conservatives think that if the girl is uneducated ,she won't get a job & will remain dependent on her husband for her survival for her life.if she can't support herself financially then her husband can beat her & insult her all he wants as he knows a woman without a job is going nowhere & can't afford to leave him.
