"In the last one week, I have visited three union councils in my constituency that fall in Benazirabad district and have directed the teaching staff to come to work or [face] action," said PPP MPA Saleem Raza Jalbani.
Talking to The Express Tribune over the phone, he said that the MPAs have been asked to supervise schools, hospitals and dispensaries in their constituencies and submit a progress report to the chief minister next month. Jalbani, who is also the chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee, held a meeting with all the district education officers on Wednesday regarding the progress reports on re-opening of ghost schools in his constituency.
Meanwhile, PPP MPA and culture minister Syed Sardar Shah also summoned a convention of teachers in his constituency in PS-69 Umerkot district to ask them about the schools in his constituency that they want to teach in. Shah said that after this no choice will be given to the teachers and they will have to attend schools regularly and impart good quality education to the students.
