Police said they had not arrested Perveen yet

MULTAN:
Sahiwal police caught two people trying to smuggle a cell phone, its accessories and hashish into the Central Prison on Wednesday. Police said Sajida Perveen, a resident of Chak 5/53-L, Sahiwal district, and her relative Muhammad Rafique arrived at the prison on Wednesday morning to meet her husband Muhammad Azam. Assistant Superintendent Yasir Hassan Sukhaira, Mazhar Hussain, Qasim Ali and lady staff Zareen Kousar frisked Perveen and Muhammad Azam. They found a cell phone, a SIM, a battery, a hands-free and 50g hashish on them. Police said they interrogated the two and Perveen admitted that she had brought the cell phone and hashish for her husband. “My husband is addicted to hashish…I was scared he was going through withdrawal and wanted to bring him his drugs,” she told police. Civil Lines police have registered an FIR against Rafiq and taken him into custody. Police said they had not arrested Perveen yet. “We will include her in the later stages of the investigation.”
