For misuse of authority in relaxing tax regime for some service providers causing huge losses to national exchequer

The country’s top anti-graft body on Tuesday authorised seven inquiries against a parliamentarian, revenue officers for ill-gotten wealth, irregularities and malpractices, said a statement issued by the bureau.
The National Accountability Bureau’s executive board at its meeting held at the NAB head offices with Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry in the chair authorised an inquiry against Iftikharul Hassan, a member of National Assembly from Sialkot for allegedly accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income.
The second inquiry was authorised against the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) officials for misuse of authority in relaxing tax regime for some service providers, causing huge losses to the national exchequer.
The third inquiry was authorised against Major (retd) Kamran Kiyani, owner of Power Pack for willful loan default of Rs165.370 million.
The fourth inquiry was authorised against officials of Pakistan State Oil (PSO), Management of Admore Gas Pvt (AGPL) and others for illegally awarding a contract worth billions of rupees to the gas company.
The fifth inquiry was authorised against the management of PPL for selling a plot measuring 3,510 square yards in Civil Lines Quarters Karachi at less than market rates thus causing huge loss to the national exchequer.
The sixth inquiry was authorised against Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, former Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister for allegedly accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income.
The seventh inquiry was authorised against Parveen Naeem Shah, Vice-Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur and others for suspicious transaction report forwarded by SBP.
The meeting also approved the application for the voluntary return of Rs2.17 million by Chaudhry Shahid Mehmood, a contractor in a case of inquiry against Haroon Khan, former executive engineering, upper Jhelum Canal, Gujrat Division, Irrigation Department and others.
The EBM decided to close inquiry against the officials of Capital Development Authority (CDA) and others, an inquiry against Mian Muhammad Latif, former director of Bank of Punjab, CEO, of Chenab Group of companies, Lahore/Faisalabad and other and inquiry against Dr Ziaur Rehman, former Chief Executive, Ayub Medical Institute, Abbottabad.
The EBM also closed complaint verification against Arbab Ghulam Rahim, former Sindh Chief Minster and others due to lack of evidence.
