Event designer and partner at CKO Event Architecture, Sara Chapra takes us through her day

Event designer and partner at CKO Event Architecture and a hands-on mother of three, Sara Chapra, takes us through her day. She talks about spending hours in meetings with clients, helping her kids with their homework, and indulging in quality R&R time with the television

5 am:

Still trying to fall asleep — I’m an insomniac and can never switch my brain off.

Finally, I’m fast asleep.

6 am:

Finally, I’m fast asleep.

7 am:

I am slowly waking up to get my children ready for school. My eyes stay shut throughout most of this process.

8 am:

The kids leave for school and I return to my slumber.

9 am:

I wake up one last time and get ready to go to the gym. I chug down a spinach, rocket and green apple smoothie with a chunk of aloe vera. It tastes pretty gross but the affects are remarkable.

10 am:

I am with my friend and trainer Umar Chaudary at UC-FIT Kettlebell Class. This class keeps me sane and strong for the whole day! I’m totally addicted.

11 am:

I sneak off for my dose of double shot cappuccino with skimmed milk, which I have alone, or with a friend over breakfast.

12 noon:

Arrive at the office!

1 pm:

I work on my presentations and mood boards for various projects and clients.

2 pm:

I’m in a meeting with clients.

3 pm:

Still in a meeting — my meetings with clients can go on for two to three hours.

4 pm:

It’s lunchtime! I have lunch with my partners and our mother goose, Cyra Ankelsaria, who is our Event Producer and the owner of Karmafoodara, so you can probably imagine how delicious lunch is!

5 pm:

Back to the drawing board.

6 pm:

Heading home to my three boys who have already called me ten times since the morning for various issues and squabbles that need to be sorted. As soon as I’m home we get cracking on homework.

7 pm:

We have dinner early with our family and grandparents. It’s the only meal we all have together. While we feast, we share gossip and stories of the day with each other.

8 pm:

My kids, husband and I watch our favorite TV shows together.

9 pm:

It’s bedtime for my youngest son and this is also the best part of my day. We read bedtime stories together and snuggle till he falls asleep.

10 pm:

Time for late night coffee and reruns of Castle with my husband.

11 pm:

I’m back to my laptop and am wrapping up my presentations.

12 am:

This is the time I spend researching to see what the world is doing. It’s necessary to keep up and stay current in the world of design and events otherwise one will stagnate.

1 am:

My witching hour and therapy: late night chats with a friend about all the things that confuse and trouble me.

2 am:

Last thing I do before I go to bed is pray. I thank Allah for all that I have and all that He has given me. I pray for strength, spiritual alignment and fearlessness in everything I do.

3 am:

Back to my insomnia troubles!
