Up in arms: Protesters want domestic violence bill implemented
PESHAWAR:
A demonstration was held to demand implementation of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa domestic violence bill on Monday.
Members of a non-government organisation gathered outside Peshawar Press Club to protest against the negligence of authorities over the bill.
On the occasion, protesters were holding banners and shouted slogans in favour of the domestic violence bill. They demanded the government pass the bill in the assembly and implement it throughout K-P.
While speaking to The Express Tribune, the NGO’s chief executive officer Umar Aftab said, “Women in K-P are victims of domestic violence but cannot report it due to cultural norms and lack of proper law.”
