MULTAN:

Basti Malook police registered a case on Sunday against nine people, including the Union Council 113 chairman, for tampering with and keeping stolen tractors at a farmhouse.

Basti Malook police said they had received a tip-off and had raided UC 113 Chairman Mumtaz Baloch’s house in Chak 21-MR, Laar, on Tuesday, last week. They found 19 tractors at his farmhouse. Baloch had said that seven of the tractors were his and that the rest belonged to other people. He had said that none of the tractors were stolen. Basti Malook police then called in a team of the Forensics Department from Lahore to verify the chassis numbers and registration of the 19 tractors. The team arrived in Multan on Friday. The team filed a report which said that they had not been able to verify the engine and chassis numbers of 18 of the tractors. Baloch legally owned only one of the 19 tractors at his farmhouse.
