7-day grand celebration ‘I am Pakistan’ finalised

MULTAN:
The district government has finalised a seven-day grand celebration titled ‘I am Pakistan’ to celebrate Independence Day. It will go on from August 8 to August 14. The plan was discussed at the District Coordination Office in Multan on Sunday.

The opening ceremony will be held at Damdama located in Fort Qasim garden. Several heroes of the Pakistan Movement and the families and children of martyrs will be the guests of honour at the occasion.

DCO Nadir Chattha presided over the meeting. Multan Development Authority Additional Director General Altaf Hussain Sarayo and Zahid Hussain Gardezi also attended the meeting.


Addressing the meeting, Chattha said that this kind of grand celebration on Independence Day was the first-ever to be organised by the district government in the history of Multan. The event will include musical shows, rallies, debating competitions, dress shows, poetry readings and fireworks. People from all walks of life will be able to participate, he added.  Chattha also constituted committees comprising district officials and tasked them with giving the final shape to all preparations and formally start the celebration on Monday.
