Power of the pen: Literary session held at Sethi House 

A large number of writers exchanged their views on the role of literature in K-P’s social development

PESHAWAR:
A literary session was organised at Sethi House in the city on Sunday.

The initiative was organised by the languages and literature unit of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Directorate of Culture. The event was titled, ‘Our literature and contemporary requirements’ and the purpose of the event was to assess the role of literature in prompting social development.  Akbar Hoti, a specialist at the unit, drew attention to the directorate’s role in promoting culture.


During the session, a large number of writers exchanged their views on the role of literature in K-P’s social development. They emphasised the need to promote regional languages in the province as it could lead to the development of society. “It can [also] be helpful for peace and solidarity,” one of them added.

They urged writers to continue playing their role in society and pressed the government to support their endeavours.  They requested the directorate to allocate a budget for literary endeavours and writers.
