Opposition: Tribespeople reject proposed merger
The constitutional status of the FR regions will become ambiguous if this proposal is implemented
BANNU:
Members of the Utmanzai and Ahmadzai tribes of Frontier Region Bannu have rejected the federal government’s proposal to merge the FR regions into the settled area of the province. “The constitutional status of the FR regions will become ambiguous if this proposal is implemented,” a member of a grand jirga held in Bannu Township on Friday said. “The decision will eliminate the quota for the youth in FR region into various departments and elders of the area will also be deprived of privileges.”
