Umer Hayat had reported to the police that on August 1 at around 9am, his five-year-old daughter Seemab Zohra, the youngest of his six children, had gone missing while playing outside her house in Azampur village, Pind Dadan Khan. The family was unable to locate her.
On Thursday, her body was found in a cotton field. He told the police that someone may have kidnapped and later killed her before dumping the body in the field.
The local police have registered a case against unidentified persons. The Supreme Court recently took notice of the spike in child abductions in Punjab.
