ABBOTABAD: A teacher of a private educational institute was also arrested on Wednesday for allegedly subjecting a student to corporal punishment in Abbottabad.
Mirpur police quoted Mudassar, a resident of Mohallah Jhangi, as saying his son Muzzamal Faheem, a student of grade-10 at Modern Age Public School and College, Abbottabad, was eating snacks during break time when an Urdu teacher came and started beating him.
Unable to bear the onslaught of punches and kicks, the student reportedly fell unconscious. After hearing about the incident, the father rushed to the school and took Faheem to Ayub Teaching Hospital, Abbottabad. According to the police, doctors carried out a medical examination and admitted him for treatment. The student was later discharged from the hospital.
Police added the teacher was arrested under Section 107 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, based on the complaint. The school administration could not be reached for comments despite several attempts.
